During the 2001-2002 academic year, the School of Information is celebrating its 75th anniversary by commemorating all that SI and its predecessors have done to help people manage and find information. From the formal founding of the Department of Library Science in 1926, through its recognition as a distinct school at U-M in 1969 and later as the School of Information, the School has a long, proud history.

The SI 75th anniversary Web site has been created with several goals in mind

  • to keep you abreast of the 75th anniversary celebration events
  • to provide you a forum for networking with fellow alums
  • to encourage you to contribute to SI's year-long celebration, by giving to the Deans Emeriti Fund or another fund to support SI students, by sending us your memorabilia (photos, anecdotes, and the like) of your time at SI, and/or by attending our celebratory events and receptions throughout the coming year.
  • to provide a portal to our archives via which you can relive memories and learn more about the history of the institution. These archives are searchable by theme (e.g., student life, class photos, stories, and technology) or chronologically. They are also searchable by keyword.
