Former Dean
Bidlack:
Was it you
I was telling my story to? Well I'll tell it anyway! (laughter)
When McAllister retired there was a very nice dinner. He was social director
of the library. And Fred Wagner gave a very nice tribute to him. I have
no idea what the year was. And Mr. McAllister, who had a wonderful sense
of humor had spoken. He said he was standing by the curb of the Union,
when one of his old friends got out of the taxi that was at the dinner.
I can't remember the name of this lady, but she was a prominent buxom
librarian at that time at some school library or something. And an old
friend of McAllister. So she got out of the taxi, he said that he had
kissed her on the cheek. And then later in the evening, during the dinner,
she greeted him as though she hadn't seen him before. And so he said well
I kissed you as you got out of the cab.
She said
"Oh, I thought that was the cab driver!"
Poor Mr. McAllister. This lady was so funny.
