Assistant or Associate Professor


The School of Library and Information Studies in the Faculty of Management at Dalhousie University invites applicants for a tenure track appointment at the level of assistant or associate professor from those with teaching and research interests in any two of the following areas:

  1. information organization
  2. classification & indexing
  3. bibliographical control
  4. information environment
  5. information needs & uses
  6. user behaviour
  7. organizational management.

The rank is open depending on qualifications. A Ph.D. is expected with demonstrated excellence in teaching and research, appropriate for the level. The salary is competitive. The start date is July 1, 1997 or by arrangement for a beginning teaching date of September 1997. To ensure full consideration, applications must be received by March 1, 1997.

Preliminary interviews can take place at the meeting of the Canadian Council of Library Schools, held in conjunction with the annual conference of the Association of Library and Information Studies Education in Washingtion, D.C., Februrary 12-14 1997.

The School of Library and Information Studies is a unit in the Faculty of Management at Dalhousie University along with the Schools of Business Administration, Public Administration, and Resource & Environmental Studies.
