Professor/Program Director


The School of Information Studies (IST) at Syracuse University is seeking a senior faculty member to direct its growing Telecommunications and Network Management Program. The position will begin Fall semester, 1997. Salary is commensurate with experience and is nationally competitive. The IST faculty seeks a colleague who has a broad interest in and perspective on the information field and has an interdisciplinary approach to teaching and research. The School's nationally recognized programs include a Bachelor's of Science degree in Information Management and Technology; Master's degrees in Telecommunications and Network Management, Information Resources Management, Library and Information Science, and a Ph.D. program in Information Transfer.

The School seeks a growth-oriented individual with knowledge and experience in telecommunications and network management, leadership ability, and stature in the field. The person selected to fill this position will be expected to provide leadership and direction for the School's growing Telecommunications and Network Management Program and teach and conduct research in areas such as: telecommunications policy and regulation, strategic use of telecommunications, electronic commerce, multimedia networking technology, and network management.

The School of Information Studies is a leading university center in advancing both the theory and practice of information resources/systems management. The School is located in a new $32 million Center for Science and Technology. The School's academic and research programs are based on an interdisciplinary view of information phenomena. The faculty have formal training in several cognate areas including: telecommunications, information science, computer science, management, library science, engineering, management information systems, communication, and information resources management.
