Assistant or Associate Professor for Teacher Librarianship
Department of Language Education Faculty of Education The University of British Columbia The Department of Language Education at the University of British Columbia invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track academic appointment at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in Teacher Librarianship as described below.
The Department houses the areas of English Education, ESL, Teacher Librarianship, Reading Education, and Modern Language Education. The Department of Language Education offers Ph.D., M.A. and M.Ed. degrees, and Diploma programs.
Teacher Librarianship - Assistant or Associate Professor; applicants should have background in: technologies in information retrieval, resource-based instruction, cooperative teaching strategies, curriculum implementation, multi-media resources, and be able to develop programs for diploma and graduate students. Salary will be dependent upon qualifications and experience.
All applicants should have a doctoral degree (or be in the final stages of a dissertation), show evidence of research competence and interests, and have teaching experience. Duties may include teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels, supervision of student teachers, and participation in scholarly activity and publication. The position would entail collaboration within the Department with specialists in children's literature, and beyond the Department with members of the School of Library, Archival and Information Studies. Appointments may be considered at a higher rank for a woman with exceptional qualifications.
