Assistant Professor/School Library Media Services and Information Technologies


The School of Information Sciences at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position to begin August 1, 1997.

Desired qualifications include earned doctorate or near dissertation completion in library and information science or cognate area. Evidence of published research with the potential for developing a strong research record, and evidence of successful teaching experience or practice in specified areas of expertise. Expertise in school library media services and information technologies is required. In addition, expertise in one or more of the following areas is desirable: information retrieval systems, multimedia design, library automation, information sciences.

Duties and responsibilities include: classroom instruction at the undergraduate and graduate levels in the required areas of specialization and one or more of the optional areas; research and publication; participation in grant and contract proposal writing; participation in the information community locally, regionally and nationally; faculty committee activity; student advisement; and distance education instruction via interactive video.

Salary range: $32,000-40,000
