Elizabeth Yakel

Elizabeth Yakel
Elizabeth Yakel is an associate professor at the University of Michigan School of Information. Previously, she was an assistant professor at the University of Pittsburgh. She has a bachelor's degree from Brown University and earned her master's and doctoral degrees from the University of Michigan. Her research interests are electronic records, archival and manuscript administration, records and information resources management, human-computer interaction and evaluation of technology, and analysis of use and user needs in organizational settings. She has held a variety of professional positions in archives and records management and has published numerous articles in archival journals, as well as the book, Starting an Archives (Scarecrow Press, 1994). Yakel is active in the Society of American Archivists, where she has served on the governing council and was elected Fellow in 1999.
Helen Tibbo

Helen Tibbo
Helen Tibbo is an associate professor and associate dean at the School of Information and Library Science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She earned her bachelor's degree from Bridgewater State College, a master's in library science from Indiana University, and master's and doctoral degrees from the University of Maryland. She has been at the University of North Carolina since 1989, teaching in the areas of archival and records management, digital preservation and access, and reference. Her primary research interests focus on electronic information retrieval and reference service, information storage and retrieval in archival settings, abstracting and document representation, information services for the humanities, and user education. She is a member of the Society of American Archivists, the American Library Association, and other professional groups.
Wendy Duff
Wendy Duff
Wendy Duff is an associate professor on the Faculty of Information Studies at the University of Toronto. She obtained her bachelor's degree from the University of Kings College, her master's in library science from Dalhousie University and her Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh. Prior to beginning her doctoral studies, she worked in libraries and archives in Nova Scotia for more than 11 years and taught courses at the Nova Scotia Community College and Dalhousie University. She has served as a member of the ICA Ad Hoc Commission on Descriptive Standards, the Encoded Archival Description Working Group, and the EU(DELOS)/NSF Workgroup on Digital Archiving and Preservation, and is chair of the Canadian Committee on Archival Description. Her primary research interests are user studies, archival description, and electronic records. Her current research interests focus on the development of generic user-based evaluation tools, the information seeking behavior of archival users, archival reference, archival education and digital preservation. Last year, she received the Premier Research Excellence Award.
Joan Cherry
Joan Cherry
Joan Cherry is Vice-Dean and Professor at the Faculty of Information Studies at the University of Toronto. She holds a B.Sc. (chemistry) from St. Francis Xavier University, an MLS from the University of Western Ontario, and a doctorate in information science from the University of Pittsburgh. Prior to joining the Faculty of Information Studies at the University of Toronto, she was a faculty member in the Department of Computer Science at York University. Her research interests are in the area of human computer interaction. Her work has included usability studies of online help systems, user satisfaction studies of online public access catalogues, evaluation of displays for web-based library catalogues, evaluation of screen design guidelines, and user studies of Early Canadiana Online. She is currently conducting a longitudinal study of students' perceptions of the quality of master's programs in information studies with Wendy Duff and Nalini Singh.

Aprille Cooke McKay is the Project Manager for "Developing Standardized Metrics in College and University Archives and Special Collections," based at the University of Michigan's School of Information. She holds a B.A. in Religious Studies from the University of Virginia, a JD from the University of Chicago, and an MSI with specialization in Archives and Records Management from the University of Michigan School of Information. Prior to joining the project, she worked at the Bentley Historical Library, specializing in legal collections, including processing the papers of Governor John Engler. She has also practiced law in the Chicago area, at the Kane County States Attorney's Office and the firm of Levin & Funkhouser. She is a member of SAA's Intellectual Property Working Group and the Standards Committee.
