The costumes for Wild Swan Theater's production of Along the Tracks: Michigan and the Underground Railroad were designed by Suzanne Young. Because of the historical nature of the play, Ms. Young used various resources to study the clothing and accessories of the 1800's before starting to work on her designs. These resources included costume books, photographs, and art books. For Ms. Young, art books are actually one of the best resources since the artists generally paint people and objects from their day and time. The following images are sketches of the costumes that were used in the production.
