The Stylistic Journey Project started with the partnering of an Emerson School class with both an art teacher, Julie Reach and a technology teacher, Jeff Paul along with the University of Michigan Art Museum for an elective experimental course.

The middle school students visited the art museum several times to view three very different artworks: an Asian ink scroll from 1621, a pointillist piece by Dubois-Pillet and two panel pieces, which is tempura & gold on wood panel, from Italy in the 15th century. The director of the museum, Bill Hennessey, led the discussions and even invited a very interesting guest speaker, Marshall Wu, to demonstrate Asian ink techniques.

After the site visits, the students returned to their classrooms with studio work in each medium and the development of their own webpages.

This site was created to give the students online support and if you venture through you can see they loved the option of asking the museum director more questions right from their computer.
