- Have students research a member of the Frogs and write
a short report on him.
- Read excerpts of Aristophanes' play or Aesop's Fables.
What is the significance of the frog character in this literature? Why
is it appropriate for the group's name?
- The Apollo Theater came to be known as an entertainment center in
Harlem. Have students research some of the personalities who got their
start there. Have them watch the popular television program, "Showtime
at the Apollo". What are some of the traditions that still exist?
- Have students research the top "African Americans in the Entertainment
Industry". Who are some of the power brokers today? How can African
Americans exercise more control over what is presented on television
and in the movies? Take a class room poll. Find out who is the favorite
musical star, rap star, television star, movie star in the class. Compare
these modern day stars with those in the Frogs organization. What are
the similarities? the differences?
