WELCOME TO

THE
LOS ANGELES
MURALS
WEBSITE!
[an error occurred while processing this directive]The murals you are about to view represent cultural, social and political movements that have helped shape the history of the city of Los Angeles. Through these murals, people have found a voice within their community. The murals not only portray historical events, but they have also become a part of history themselves.
During your visit with us, you will take part in a virtual tour of murals located throughout Los Angeles, California. The murals included in this tour are primarily located in Downtown LA, Boyle Heights, City Terrace, Lincoln Heights, East L.A. as well as Monterey Park. In this unique tour, you will find close to 200 murals documented within the following pages. For your convenience, the collection is divided into four parts, and a map divided into North, South, East and West will be your guide through this self-paced tour.
Each image contains not only the mural itself but also information pertaining to the image. This information includes the title of the piece, its artist(s), the date it was created, as well as its location within the city of Los Angeles.
The project had its start with photographs taken by Susan Atkins, which were originally part of a larger history of world art collection contained within the School of Information Art Image Browser. Lucy Arellano augmented the photograph collection and developed this site that is specifically dedicated to the murals.
For those of you who cannot view these murals in person, sit back and enjoy the virtual tour!
