Biographical notes:
Pianist and bandleader Eddie Palmieri has a depth and breadth of experience that rivals other Salsa greats. With his brother, jazz artist Charlie Palmieri, he was born to Puerto Rican parents in the Bronx, New York City in 1936. After playing with a number of groups in the 1950s, most notably with Tito Rodriguez, he founded his own band in the 1960s. His music is considered to be more avant-garde rather than traditional, and has been awarded with a Grammy.
