Biographical notes:
Prado, born in the Cuban province of Mantanzas, was an acclaimed pianist and arranger in Cuba before moving to Mexico in 1948. Well known for his innovative recordings of "mambo" music, Prado was an effective, imaginite arranger known for scoring a brigt sound featuring effective contrasts between brass and reed instruments, and simplified, clearly heard percussive passages.
