Program
Objectives:
| 1. |
To present a more accurate and comprehensive history
of the place and role of African peoples in the development of the
Americas and the Caribbean, which should lead to a sense of the common
legacy shared by African peoples in the Western Hemisphere |

| 2. |
To assist teachers in implementing learning experiences
based on historic research that integrates thinking, reading, and
writing into the social studies, science, math, and art curicula. |

| 3. |
To encourage students to be active historians and to
collect, preserve, and interpret historical data. |
| |

| 4. |
To expand the relationship between the school and the
community. |
| |
|
| 5. |
To invite community study and participation. |
Instructional
Objectives:
The student should be able to:

Grasp the cultural, historic, and geographic prominence
of African peoples in the Americas |

| 2. |
Recognize the various means that exist for recording
history. |

| 3. |
Distinguish between fact and opinion. |
| |

| 4. |
Sharpen observation, listening, and critical thinking
skills. |
| |

| 5. |
Realize the importance of both the printed word and
artifacts as evidence in studying history. |

Develop the ability to analyze and interpret historical
data. |

| 7. |
Develop the ability to question effectively. |

Participate in historical inquiry, including the gathering,
organizing, and analysis of facts and data. |
