I
walk the halls and see many faces
Black, white and many races.
I have friends of different colors
Some have black dads and white mothers.
But it wasn't always like that
There was segregation for whites and blacks.
Where whites were you never saw black faces.
Blacks marched for what was right
But white police were odered to fight.
People were arrested and some died
Seldom found quilty when the beaters were tried.
Dr. King believed in what he preached,
"I Have A Dream" affected those he reached.
He saw this settled without violence or hate,
His words truly touched all fifty states.
I'm glad these times are no longer around
But the memories can still be found.
In our hearts these tears lay,
And we shall overcome someday.
