Diamond Field Patterned Quilt
From the Collections of Henry Ford Museum & Greenfield Village
Diamond Field is another one-patch pattern. The pattern is alternatively called Grandmother's Flower Garden or Martha Washington's Flower Garden. The difference in name depends on the pattern of light and dark fabrics used in the design.
Susan McCord used many old clothing scraps to construct this quilt. The diamonds are brought together by a lattice of red hexagons. Although the lattice is red, on closer inspection you can see that a variety of fabrics in a variety of shades composes the lattice.
