Floral Urn is an example of an album-style quilt popular between 1840-1860. Normally the blocks were made by different quilters and assembled by one person into an "album," as a wedding keepsake or as a momento for a family moving West. However, Floral Urn was made almost completely by Susan McCord. The pattern represents tulips, fuschias, petalled flowers, and grapes. This quilt is another example of Susan McCord's use of nature and gardening in her quilts.
