notes: Composer and bass player Israel Lopez, known as "Cachao", is recognized for introducing the syncopated rhythm of Cuban "danzons" in salsa music. Born in Cuba in 1916, he later recorded with Tito Rodriguez's orchestra in New York City, and with such salsa greats as Rolando Valdez, Charlie Palmieri and Gonzalo Fernandez. | ||||||
