Sugar Island

Sugar Island is a pretty small place.  It is 27 miles long and 7 miles wide.  Sugar Island's name came from maple syrup.  Some of my relatives live on Sugar Island.  My grandma and grandpa live on Sugar Island and also some cousins and an uncle.  My grandma hand carves flowers out of trees off Sugar Island.  She says that no flower is the same as another.  When we went to Sugar Island we toured it.  We also toured Duck Lake.

There are only three stores on the island and one restaurant.  We stayed at the culture camp on Sugar Island.  I thought that the story and information from Bud Biron about the sweat lodge was interesting.  Bud Biron also showed us a really old cabin (pictured below) that was located by Duck lake.

When we were at the culture camp we learned a Native American dance called the round dance.  It was pretty fun to do at first except when we had to go around the circle about six times.  I had a good time with the people that were with the youth groups on this trip.
