Week 12 (April 12) - Long-Term Preservation: Managing Software Dependencies: The Technology Obsolescence Problem

MARGARET HEDSTROM SLIDES

Guest speaker: Professor Margaret Hedstrom, School of Information

Storage and playback technologies are changing rapidly. Individuals and organizations must convert their electronic records from obsolete formats to current technologies if they wish to continue to access them. We will discuss the nature of software dependency and review methods to reduce the impact of technology obsolescence on long-term access to electronic records.
