Description: Microscope. All brass, culpeper-type with S-curved support legs (Adams type); circular brass base, 8.6 cm. diameter; single concave mirror on mounting post and gimbal centered in base; circular stage 6.4 cm. above base with 2.2 cm. diam. central aperture (slightly recessed), .3 cm. aperture near edge for mounting accessory posts, keyhole opening for fish plate and two substage clips. Sliding body tube with gradations marked 1-4 has rack and pinion adjustment; conical, threaded nosepiece extends below inner body draw tube; eyepiece contains compound lens and field lens. Accessories included in drawer of instrument's pyramidal mahogany case: 4 objective lenses marked 1-4, Bonanni spring stage, brass live box, cork-sealed glasstube, fish plate, stage forceps, specimen disc, camel's hair brush, tweezers and ivory specimen sliders. 25 cm. x 8.6 cm. dia.

This instrument is missing the Bonanni spring stage, brass live box and cork-sealed tube.
