Eder flexirigid gastroscope designed by Leo L. Hardt and Ludwig Streifeneder,
ca.1940-1959.

Manufactured by: Schneider-Cogswell Precision Optics, Inc., Chicago.

Description: Semi-flexible gastroscope. Scope has chromium-plated brass eyepiece with glass lens, air feeding port with threaded cap, electrical connection with detachable light control handle; distal third of stainless steel shaft is scored and covered by permanent protective rubber sheath; distal end has holes for air inflation of stomach, glass objective lens and mirror housing; detachable, threaded lamp housing terminating in tapered, flexible rubber tip. Includes power cable with on/off switch, and rheostat adjustment in the cord; air inflation bulb and tubing. Instrument marked: "SCHNEIDER-COGSWELL -- PRECISION OPTICS -- CHICAGO -- PAT. NO. 2,376,249." Instrument housed in leatherette case with velvet lining. Case marked: "EDER GASTROSCOPE -- MFG. BY -- SCHNEIDER-COGSWELL, INC. --CHICAGO." Scope: 70 cm. x 1.1 cm. diam.; case: 80.5 cm. x 8.0 x 13 cm.
