Background: One of four units within the Office of Educational
Resources and
Research (OERR) of the Department of Postgraduate Medicine. In the
mid 1960s,
the Medical Photography, Medical Television, and Medical Illustration
Units
were consolidated to form the Biomedical Media Production Unit
(BMPU).
BMPU changed its name to Biomedical Communications in the mid-1980s.
BMC provides
professional production assistance to both the University Medical
Center and the
greater university community, including computer graphics, graphic
design,
medical illustration, and television and video production.
Summary: Comprise three series: Photographs, containing black and
white
negatives and prints of medical faculty and staff; Printed Materials,
containing four undated brochures describing the services of BMC; and
Films, consisting of two films created for
the University of Michigan Medical Television.
