Background: Established as the Michigan Home for the Feebleminded and Epileptic under the authority of Act 209, MPA 1893, on 898 acres in Lapeer county. The home was constructed on the cottage plan and opened for patient care in August 1895. Act 15, MPA 1923, as amended by Act 104, MPA 1937, placed the State Hospital Commission in control of the institution until the powers and duties of the Commission were transferred to the Department of Mental Health in 1945. In 1960 the physical plant included 91 buildings with a capacity of more than 4,000 persons.

Summary: Typewritten notes of daily activities of the Michigan Home for the Feebleminded and Epileptic. Primarily concerned with the coming and going of patients, staff, and guests. Includes comment on social life, meetings of governing board, and expansion of physical plant in 1916.
