Every two years, beginning the academic year 1997-1998, ICOS will host a competition for the Likert Dissertation Paper Award. This award will be given to the author of a paper based on a dissertation that makes the most significant contribution to organizational studies. The Likert Dissertation Award is a gift of the Foundation for Research on Human Behavior, a foundation created by the late Rensis Likert. The gift is intended to honor and encourage the scholarly publication of the dissertation research of recent University of Michigan Ph.D.s in organizational studies.
Eligibility: To be eligible, an entrant must have received their Ph.D. and have participated in an ICOS dissertation poster session. The deadline for the competition will be Monday, October 24, 2005. The paper can be published or unpublished. It can be of any length. The one requirement is that the paper be a direct product of the dissertation. To enter, send ten (10) copies of the paper to Paula Kopka, University of Michigan Business School, 701 Tappan Street, Rm. P2015A, Ann Arbor, MI 48109-1234 by Monday, October 24, 2005.
Prize: The winner of the Likert Dissertation Paper Award will present the prize paper at ICOS sometime during the Winter 2006 term. The prize includes a cash award of $500 and travel expenses to come to Ann Arbor.
