6th ICOS DISSERTATION POSTER SESSION

What is the ICOS Dissertation Poster Session?

The ICOS Dissertation Poster Session is a biannual, informal poster session which provides an opportunity for doctoral students to present their dissertation ideas and research in a fun, relaxed environment. The 2005 session will be held on Friday, February 18, 2005, 1:30-3:00 p.m., in the Phelps Lounge at the Business School.

Who Should Participate?

We invite participation by students at any phase in the dissertation process, including those beginning the process, those with more developed theoretical frameworks and preliminary findings, and those in the final stages of writing. Students who participated in the last poster session are welcome to present in this year's session.

Why Should You Participate?

The session provides an informal setting for students to discuss their ideas with faculty and students from a variety of disciplines. Previous sessions had a high attendance rate from both faculty and students, and participants found the immediate, face-to-face feedback particularly helpful. The session is a wonderful way to refine ideas, get suggestions for measurement and analysis, and simply talk through your dissertation with an amazing collection of people interested in and knowledgeable about organizations.

In addition, with no extra effort, participating makes you automatically eligible for consideration for the Rensis Likert Dissertation Paper Award. This prize has been established in his memory and will be awarded two and a half years from now to the author of the best paper coming out of this ICOS dissertation poster session. C.V. Harquail, was the first winner of a Likert Dissertation Prize. Caroline Bartel and Nancy Rothbard shared the honors for the second Likert Dissertation Prize. The third Likert Prize was won by David Obstfeld, who spoke last year in the ICOS seminar about his work.

Also, refreshments will be provided. There is truly nothing to lose and everything to gain by participating in this session!
