Computing Lab Sites for Use by SI Students
School of Information students have access to a variety
of computing labs across the University of Michigan campus. Included are:
Digital Information
Access and Dissemination Lab, or DIAD: 4041 Shapiro Library
The DIAD lab is located on the 4th floor of the Shapiro Library
in the Science Library. It is open to all SI students during regular Science
Library hours with card key access. If you need access to the lab, let
SI.Computing know.
Information
Technology Central Services Computing Sites or ITCS Sites
The University maintains a wide variety of sites on Central and
North campus that are accessible at differing times and feature workstations
appropriate for the widest range of applications, including multimedia,
specialized computing applications, and class specific programs.
Computer
Aided Engineering Network or CAEN
CAEN is the primary provider of networking and resources
on the University's North campus. Its labs are concentrated
on North Campus in the Media Union, though there is a site adjacent
to the DIAD in the Science Library. These sites are available
to SI students, though some may require application on a
per semester basis for class-based projects.
Media Union
The Media Union, located on North Campus, brings
together information resources, information technology, production
studios, and the combined talents of information professionals
from across campus units to serve the University community. The
Media Union is intended as an all-campus resource and a place
to facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration, integrative learning
and exploration. The Media Union provides University students,
faculty and staff with 24 hour access to most services, seven
days a week during the academic year.
