Connecting to Lexis-Nexis using Putty:

  • Start up generic putty.
    • Go to Start > Programs > Putty > Putty

  • Double click on the "Lexis-Nexis" saved session


  • [A lexis-nexis.doc file should appear on your desktop]

  • Type in ".vt100" and hit return in the terminal window
  • Type in the 7 character personal identification number from the sheet and hit return
  • Type in your uniqname and hit return
  • Conduct the search
  • Type ".so" when the search is completed
  • You will be asked whether you want to save the search; type "n" here and hit return
  • The putty terminal window will disappear
  • The lexis-nexis.doc file on your desktop has captured the search session
