 Fetch

Fetch is a Macintosh program that allows you to transfer a file between a host computer and your personal computer over a network. You can use Fetch, a Macintosh application, to transfer files to and from your Institutional File System (IFS) home directory, your Novell file space or the School of Information ftp server. Fetch is available on the SI Macintosh loadset and for download (authentication required) from this link https://itd.www.umich.edu/cgi-bin/genlogin?003&/software/download/

1) Open the application by clicking on the Fetch Icon located in the dock

2) When Fetch is launched a login box appears. In this box you must enter the host, your uniquename, and password.

Use the example on the right to guide you. >>>

in this example you will reach your IFS space. Software downloads are available here.

This example shows how to reach your SI Novell space via FTP. This is a good way to get to your SI Novell space from home.

Use the example on the right to guide you. >>>

3) Once you have successfully logged in you will be in your own space on the Novell Network....You will see the following folders: HTML, Private, Public, and Inbox. You can change directories by accessing the directory menu at the top of you screen and choosing "Change Directory". A box will be displayed for you to enter in the directory you want to move to.

In this example the user is accessing the groups folder on the Server called "Selma" when changing servers, do not forget the double slashes before the name. This is not needed if you are on the same server.
