 7.2.1 to 7.5.x MeetingMaker Upgrade

SI's MeetingMaker server has been upgraded from version 7.2.1 to 7.5.3, as have all the other UM Meeting Maker servers attached to the ITCS Meeting Maker hub.

SI-Supported Client Platforms for Version 7.5.x:

  • Mac OS X
  • Windows 2000 or XP

There are three upgrade scenarios:

  1. Windows client with NAL (Novell Application Launcher)
  2. Windows client without NAL available
  3. Macintosh client with OS X

Specific Instructions for the 3 Scenarios:

1. On a Windows client via NAL:

If you have an SI PC running Windows 2000 or XP, and have access to the Novell Application Launcher (NAL):

  1. Open up NAL by double-clicking on the NAL icon on your desktop
  2. Double-click on the "MeetingMaker 7.5" icon

Once this NAL installer is finished, you should be able to start your new version of Meeting Maker 7.5.0 right away and log in.

2. On a Windows 2000 or XP client without NAL available:

If you don't have access to NAL on your PC, then you have to uninstall the old client, download the new one, and finally install the new client and configure it, and by hand.

To uninstall the old client, use the "Add/Remove Programs" control panel to remove Meeting Maker:

  1. click on the Start button, scroll down to "Settings", and scroll over to choose "Control Panel".
  2. double-click on "Add/Remove Programs",
  3. find "Meeting Maker" in the list, click on it, and click on the button there to remove it.
  4. reboot your machine.
  5. finally, delete the now mostly empty "Meeting Maker" folder (there are temporary files left from the last time you logged into the server which will interfer with the new client install) at:

    C:\Program Files\Meeting Maker

Now download the new version: MeetingMaker 7.5.X
The Downloaded file, called "75_win_client_en.zip" is a .zip file that will have to be unzipped on your machine to a folder called "75_win_client_en", which will contain the installer and some other configuration files. Once you get the file downloaded and unzipped, follow the instructions below. To unzip this file you will need an application such as winzip. Please follow the link to optain this application here:

winzip.com

To install and configure version 7.5.3 for Windows:

  1. open the unzipped "75_win_client_en" folder that you downloaded
  2. open the "75_win_client_en" folder within
  3. double click on the "Setup.exe" file within
  4. click on the "Next" button
  5. click on the "Next" button
  6. click on the "Finish" button
  7. using Windows Explorer go to the location where you unzipped 75_win_client_en.zip (the file you downloaded). Copy the "MMCLNT32" folder to "C:\Program Files\meetingmaker"
  8. start MeetingMaker: Start menu>Programs>meetingmaker>meetingmaker
  9. type your login name in the "Name:" box and your password in the "Password:" box
  10. click on the "Sign In" button

You shouldn't have to do this configuration again, unless you reinstall your client. From now on the client should remember everything except your password. Make sure you remember to reset your preferences that we told you to write down in the previous document.

4. On a Macintosh client with OS X:

In this scenario, you should only have to install the new client. First, download the new version: MeetingMaker 7.5.3 The downloaded file is a.hqx file that will have to be extracted to a folder containing the installer.

To install and configure the new 7.5.3 client on MacOS X:

  2. open the "meetingmaker Client" folder within
  3. double-click on the "Installer" file within
  4. click on the "Continue" button
  5. click on the "Install" button
  6. click on the "Yes" button
  7. uncheck the "Display Client Readme" box and click on the "OK" button
