Wireless Networking @ SI
SI has installed wireless networks using the 802.11a/b/g standard in both West
Hall and SI North.
To access the wireless network in the SI envirnoment you must Log In using your University of Michigan Kerberos uniquename and password.
Detailed instructions on connecting to the School of Information wireless network can be found at.http://www.si.umich.edu/computing/howtos/ConnectingToWireless.php
DIAD
SI Computing removed the SI Wireless network from the DIAD in order to
not have conflicts with the library's wireless network. All you have to
do is visit this site and enter in you uniqname and Kerberos password to
access the wireless network. Further information about the campus
wireless network can be found at

Guest Connections to the SI Network
People, who do not have UM credentials, e.g. guest speakers, visitors, conference attendees, etc., will be able to get connected in one of the following 3 ways:
- A special wireless network is setup for that purpose, and the guest will receive a login name and password, which can be requested in advance from SI Computing (si.computing@umich.edu). However, connectivity on this network will be limited to http/https/ssh traffic, i.e. visiting Web sites, retrieving e-mail through a Web client, secure file transfer, secure terminal sessions. (The list of allowed protocols is currently under discussion and may be expanded).
- Connect through a wire (Ethernet cable) with virtually no restrictions. Such wires are available at most podiums and SIC has a large selection of cables of various lengths.
- For guests with more complex or longer-term needs for wireless connectivity, a "conference" computing package can be purchased through ITCS, starting at $7.50 per participant (see: http://www.itd.umich.edu/accounts/conference-program.html ).
