Below are some quick tips to help you make the most efficient use of the VisioN 2010 resources at this site.
To experience all of the bells and whistles at this site, use a Netscape 2.0 compliant browser. You can
download a copy of Navigator 2.0 from Netscape's home page.
If you read nothing else before jumping to the discussion, read What is VisioN 2010?, an overview of the project and its goals.
Before looking into the four VisioN 2010 scenarios, we suggest you skim through Building Scenarios, a description of the scenario-creation process. The Matrix and the descriptions of what its two
axes represent will help you understand how these scenarios were structured.
Discussion topics will be introduced by guest scholars. Each early topic will be linked to a summarized history of the VisioN 2010 discussions that have taken place thus far on that subject. New topics will be introduced
every three weeks.
Use the Site Map to discover where you are in the (relatively) grand scheme of things.
Use the Table of Contents to view the hierarchical structure of this site.
If you find this site useful--especially if you come back often--we'd like to know. Please take a moment to sign your name to the list of VisioN 2010 participants.
Some notes on animations: At times, when an animation is running, the status bar at the bottom of your screen will come back to life and show that a file is loading. This activity is the cycle of images loading from your local cache, not off of the
network. While the status bar shows activity, you can press your browser's "Stop" button or the "Esc" key to interrupt an animation.
Finally, please remember that VisioN 2010 is an ongoing
discussion. Even the scenario planning process is an ongoing process.
As its moderators, we very much want to see the project evolve to be as
useful as possible to institutions planning for the coming decade.
Please be generous with your feedback. In addition to the
discussion-topic forums, there are forums for responding to the
scenarios and a forum for planning the
next stage of VisioN 2010. The question here i
s, "What would be most useful to you?"
