Self Nominations for WISE 2004

  • Deadline: Friday, December 7, 2002.
  • Self-nominations are sought from pairs of individuals who would like to co-chair the 2004 Workshop on Information Systems and Economics (WISE 2004).
  • Learn more about WISE.

Past participation in the workshop is a prerequisite for nomination as a co-chair. In addition, experience has shown that having at least one co-chair with local connections greatly eases the administrative aspects of organizing the workshop. The latter is not a hard constraint, however, as previous workshops have been organized without this advantage.

The duties of the co-chairs include:

  1. Mailing of the call for extended abstracts.
  2. Refereeing and selection of abstracts to be chosen for invited presentations.
  3. Arrangements, including meeting space and meals.
  4. Selection of discussants, session chairs, panel chairs,
    panelists and other participants.
  5. Coordination with the WISE policy committee, which consists of the co-chairs from the previous four WISE events.

Nominations should include the names of the two individuals who are volunteering, plus a statement of no more than 200 words expressing their reasons for wishing to be considered, and providing planning information, including the proposed location and time for the workshop. Self-nomination will be considered a commitment to accept the position if elected. Co-chairs from the preceding four years (i.e., 1999-2002) are ineligible. The names of the nominees and their statements will be distributed prior to the beginning of the 2002 WISE. The nominees receiving the largest number of votes by ballot of 2002 WISE participants will be selected as the co-chairs for the 2004 WISE.

Nominations should be submitted via electronic mail to Co-Chairs listed in About WISE page. Nominations must be received by Friday, December 7, 2002.
