About SI

The School of Information (SI) is strong in teaching and research that challenges the status quo of the information professions. Our faculty and students work to develop an integrated understanding of human needs as they relate to information systems and social structures, connecting people, information, and technology in more valuable ways. SI pioneers the development and application of principles of information management.

Academic Calendar
A regular school year consists of two 15-week terms (fall and winter). The fall term runs from the beginning of September through the middle of December, with a two-day fall study break in October. The winter term runs from the beginning of January to the end of April, with a weeklong break, typically at the end of February. Spring and summer are both optional half-terms. West Hall

West Hall ("SI West") on the U-M Central Campus in Ann Arbor, is home of the School of Information's central administrative offices and classrooms.

SI North

West Hall is paired with "SI North" on North Campus, which houses some faculty, staff, and doctoral students.
