Kenneth Vance Scholarship Endowment

The "umbrella" of the Alumni Society Campaign for Scholarships in the late nineties not only created new endowments but encouraged alums to contribute to existing funds like the Kenneth Vance Scholarship Endowment. Jeffrey Horrell (AMLS '76), then Alumni Society president, represented donors to this endowment. He saw that a planned gift was a "doable" way to make a major gift to ensure the continued growth of the Vance Scholarship.
"I was surprised at how uncomplicated it was to make my planned gift and pleased to be able to indicate how I wanted that gift to be used," Horrell says. "None of us wants to think about testamentary gifts, but then again, can we really afford not to? I know that Ken would have been thrilled with our efforts as an Alumni Society and as individuals to provide significant support for the School -- a place that meant so much to him and continues to make us proud to be alums."
