
All PhD students in the School of Information are guaranteed four years of funding, contingent on successful academic performance and progress toward your degree. This support includes tuition and stipend for four fall and four winter terms and year-round health benefits. Funding also includes a stipend for two summer terms. Additional funding may be available.
STIET is a multidisciplinary doctoral training program at the University of Michigan and Wayne State University and administered at SI. STIET is the Socio-Technical Infrastructure for Electronic Transactions program. STIET fellows design cyberinfrastructure to support safe, meaningful, efficient, equitable, and productive interactions. Their research focus is on the use of incentive-centered design to deliver new and improved systems for human use of the Internet.
The Open Data Research Fellowship program allows students to engage in a vibrant set of research activities at the University of Michigan in the conduct of responsible data-intensive science and engineering. The work involves faculty and doctoral students from SI, computer science and engineering, bioinformatics, materials science, and chemical engineering.
