Master's Program Applicants
Deadlines for fall admission
- Feb. 1: for all applicants wishing to receive first consideration for financial assistance from SI (U.S. and international applicants)
- May 1: final deadline (U.S. and international applicants
Deadlines for winter admission
- Oct. 1:
- for all international applicants (all international applications will receive first consideration for financial assistance from SI)
- for U.S. applicants wishing to receive first consideration for financial assistance from SI
- Nov. 1: final deadline for U.S. citizens/permanent residents
Financial Aid Note: Applications received after the financial assistance (i.e., the early deadline dates) will be considered for financial aid from the School of Information, but for first consideration for these funds, please apply by the early deadline.
Tuition
Total tuition and required fees listed below are per term (14 weeks, one-half an academic year) for the 2009-10 academic year.
- Michigan resident, per term (nine or more hours elected): $8,738
- Nonresident, per term (nine or more hours elected): $17,567
Tuition and fees are subject to change without notice by the Regents of the University of Michigan. Tuition is usually set annually in July. Also see important information on Michigan Residency Regulations → on a page maintained by the Office of the Registrar.

Doctoral Program Applicants
Deadline
Prospective doctoral students must submit all materials by Jan. 5 of each year. The doctoral program admits students to begin in the fall semester only.
Tuition
All Ph.D. students in the School of Information are guaranteed four years of funding, provided they are making satisfactory progress toward their degree. This includes tuition and stipend for four fall and winter terms and year-round health benefits. Funding also includes a stipend for two summer terms. Additional funding may be available.
