Applying
The School of Information application process is administered through the Horace H. Rackham School of Graduate Studies ("Rackham"). We strongly encourage you to apply to our graduate programs online → using Rackham's online application. You can start your application, save the information you enter, and come back as often as necessary to finish the application before actually submitting it.

Our multimedia viewbook is now available online. It will introduce you to SI through the eyes of some of our faculty, students, staff, and, alumni. It also includes instructions on how to apply. Or, if you would prefer, you can request a CD version.
Applying to the Master's Program
Basic requirements:
- Bachelor's degree from a four-year accredited program
- Undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or higher (on a 4.0 scale) preferred
Deadlines:
- Fall admission
- Feb. 1: for all applicants wishing to receive first consideration for financial assistance from SI (U.S. and international applicants)
- May 1: final deadline (U.S. and international applicants)
- Winter admission
- Oct. 1:
- for all international applicants (all international applications will receive first consideration for financial assistance from SI)
- for U.S. applicants wishing to receive first consideration for financial assistance from SI
- Nov. 1: final deadline for U.S. citizens/permanent residents
Financial Aid Note: Applications received after the financial assistance (i.e., the early) deadline dates will be considered for financial aid from the School of Information, but for first consideration for these funds, please apply by the early deadline.

SI offers substantial, yet highly competitive funding opportunities for entering MSI students. Many outside resources are available that you should also pursue. Note that all doctoral students receive generous multiyear funding packages.
