Career Development Office

Welcome!

Whether you are a student, alumnus or employer, the School of Information (SI) Career Development Office is here to help meet your needs. We offer students and alumni comprehensive career services and resources that are tailored to your specific career interests and goals, and we assist private and public sector organizations from across the U.S. and abroad with finding new talent. The SI Career Development Office is staffed with three full-time career development professionals. We look forward to working with you!

Students

SI places a high priority on your career success. We will work to foster a positive career development experience for you, from your first day at SI through graduation, and beyond. Our goal is to guide you in building a career development skill set that will help you succeed for a lifetime.

Our team works closely with you in assessing your career interests, exploring career options, and developing effective job search strategies for securing internships and full-time positions through individual career counseling sessions, professional development workshops, employer/alumni panels and networking events. It is our goal to not only help you secure internships and jobs, but to help direct you to the career pathway that is the best fit in terms of your values, beliefs, strengths and goals.

We will help you connect with a broad range of employers through job postings, arranging resume collections and on-campus recruiting, connecting  with alumni across fields, and actively engaging in outreach to employers in the U.S. and abroad.

Alumni

We value our alumni and want to help support you in your career development success.  Because of this, alumni have access to most of the services we provide to our current students including iTrack (online recruiting system), the Student-Alumni Network, and career resources, workshops and presentations. Individual career counseling for resume and cover letter consultations, interview preparation, salary negotiation, and job search strategy is available as well.  Career counseling appointments (in person or by phone or Skype) may be scheduled by contacting our office directly. Many resources can be accessed immediately on our web site and we invite you to explore what we have to offer.

Employers

We offer employers guidance in developing a tailored recruiting strategy to identify SI student and alumni talent to meet your organizational needs. We aim to develop ongoing recruiting relationships with organizations across the U.S. and abroad to add value to your organization’s hiring efforts. We pride ourselves on giving excellent customer service whether you are posting a job or recruiting on campus.
