Student-Alumni Network
The SI Career Development Office hosts the Student-Alumni Network, a database of alumni who volunteer their time to provide career advice and networking opportunities to SI students.
The Student-Alumni Network is now integrated into iTrack. Because iTrack is a leading resource for students looking for internships and for alumni identifying career positions and making contact with professionals for networking, it makes sense to have the Student-Alumni Network part of the same system.
Students are able to view a list of available mentors in the system. The benefit for students is that alumni offer:
- Insight on the job search process
- An insider's perspective on a career field or a company
- Details about internships
- Suggestions for things to do while still at SI to make students more marketable
- Insight regarding the city they live in and other contacts in their industry
Current students find that the Student-Alumni Network is an excellent place to carry out networking!
Information for Students
Note that alumni choose how many times that they would like to be contacted by students each year. After their maximum number has been reached, they will be removed from the system. So please choose carefully -- you don't want to take away the ability for another student to connect with an alumnus that you are only semi-interested in.
Additionally, the goal should be to build your professional network and gather information pertaining to your career field of interest. This may lead to a job or internship after some dialogue and a relationship has been established, but that should not be your main intent for using this resource. This is not the forum to simply ask for a job. Please keep this in mind when you start your communications with alumni.

How Students Can Access
the Student-Alumni Network
To access the Student-Alumni Network, SI students should login to iTrack and select "Networking" from the main toolbar.
