SI 623: Outcome-Based Evaluation of Programs and Services (Winter Term)

Teams of three to four students conduct an outcome assessment with a client organization. Programs or services to be evaluated will include those that benefit people, specifically achievements or changes in skill, knowledge, attitude, behavior, condition, or life status for program participants. The student group analyses outcomes from the perspective of the people for whom a service or activity has been designed. A professional report is developed and presented to the client at the end of the semester.

Ideal Clients

Ideal clients are local to the Ann Arbor metro area (within 40 miles) and include libraries, nonprofits, archives, government agencies, museums, or other service-focused organizations. Past projects have included Ozone House's Ypsilanti Drop-In Program, Community Action Networks' Homework Help Programs, and Ypsilanti Public Library's Bookmobile and public programming services.

Project Outcomes/Benefits for Clients

Project teams prepare a report for the client organization that details program and service outcomes, which the client can choose to utilize as a part of its program evaluation efforts.
