Cooking Pots From Sepphoris

Ancient household pottery often provides archaeologists with useful clues about trade patterns of the past. Simple undecorated pots like these were extremely common at Sepphoris, yet archaeologists discovered no sign of pottery manufacturing in that community. Instead, these pots were probably made at a nearby town in Roman Galilee, Kefar Hananya, known for its ceramic production. Examples such as these 'ordinary' pots from Sepphoris demonstrate that even plain household wares could be traded and transported in the ancient world.
