The exhibit included original artwork along the lower border of both sides of the entrance hallway, as well as above the displays in the hallway. Professor Sue Alcock invited Jason Palermo, a former student of hers who is an artist, to develop a design for the exhibit. Jason, along with three colleagues and fellow art students, developed the design and worked out a technique by which to transfer the design to the walls. In developing the design, Jason commented that his intent was to bring a joyful quality to the exhibit. Jason worked from classical figures, and used those figures as a platform from which to bring forth a new expression and interpretation. This work brought a freshness and vitality to the exhibit. The painting of the frieze, along with the many other aspects of the exhibit installation, highlighted the collaborative, creative, nature of exhibit creation and installation. |
