Original tag: This is a bit of tar which was attached to a young child's hair and allowed to dangle down the middle of its forehead just above the bridge of the nose, so that the "Eye" was attracted to the object not to the child's face.

Comments: The "Eye" or "Evil Eye" refers to a traditional belief that certain people, if jealous, have the power in their gaze alone to injure or destroy possessions or persons.
