Louis
Jordon is credited with inventing jump blues He is also the first
major star of R&B, owning the R&B charts from WWII until the beginning
of the rock and roll era. He spent his youth with the Rabbit Foot
Minstrels. Later he majored in music at Arkansas Baptist College.
In 1932 he moved to Philadelphia where he played alto sax during
the big band era. Fro 1942-51 he had a total of 57 R&B hits. During
the late 40s he appeared in many "soundies", short musical films
similar to MTV videos.
