| Biographical notes: Panamanian born singer, composer, actor Ruben Blades has achieved an almost legendary status both as a musician and community activist. With a graduate background in law and music, Blades first sang with the Ray Barrettto Orchestra, joining Willie Colon's band in the mid 1970s. He recorded initially with the Fania label, devoted almost exclusively to Salsa artists, and later with the mainstream label, Electra. His arrangements include vibraphones, synthesizers, Brazilian percussion and of course, voices.
