Death Mask Story

One day while a woman was picking berries, a stranger passed her house, saw her husband inside, and warned him that his wife would kill him soon. The stranger rescued the husband, and they climbed into a canoe and glided off through the air. Suddenly they saw the woman chasing them. As she approached, she turned into a huge pike fish, and the stranger killed her with his canoe paddle. Thus the husband was saved and returned safely to his village. One day, a death mask appeared and caused him to loose consciousness. When he came to, the mask became his spirit and he became a great medicine man.
