Crow Mask (II) Story

A woman was looking for her lost husband and came upon a crow chopping wood near the river bank. As the chips flew they turned into fish and leaped into the river. The woman asked the crow about her husband but he refused to tell, so she gave him her husband's ax. Then the crow told the woman to go to his sister. The woman gave crow's sister some beads for a present and was told that she would find her husband. As she turned toward the river, a huge fish appeared and his body opened. The woman entered it, and it closed again over her. As the fish passed a village, he would rise to the surface and the woman would peep through his gills to look for her husband. Finally she sighted him, and the fish opened wide his body, and the woman went ashore and took her husband. They both entered the fish and returned to the crow's sister where they left the fish and went back to their village .
