  • All SI students have access to the DIAD Lab during the hours the Shapiro library is open, except when the lab is reserved for courses or other events.
  • For the reservation schedule, see the Online DIAD Reservation Schedule Calendar, or see the posted versions on the outside of the front and back doors of the DIAD, and also on the bulletin board behind the DIAD monitor station near the back printer.

Access to the DIAD Lab

Access to the DIAD Lab is limited to SI faculty, staff, students and guests, and some UM Library staff. Access via the front and back doors of the lab is controlled using UM ID card doorscanners. More information...

DIAD Lab Rules:

  • Food is not allowed in the DIAD! Drinks in closed containers are allowed in the DIAD, but please be careful not to spill!
  • Please log out, but leave the computers running: When leaving the DIAD, log out of the machine. This means you should go to the "Start" menu, click on "Shut Down", then select the option to "Close all programs and log in as another user". You must do this; otherwise, your Novell home directory and login privileges will be open to anyone who happens to pass by your machine. This means that someone can pretend to be you - send random email messages, delete files or folders from your Novell home directory, etc. At some point in the near future, we will be adding a feature that will automatically log people out after a period of inactivity. This means that any changes will not be saved, but access to the machine will be cut off.

Other Computer Labs On Campus

If you need to use a computer lab for a class or group, and the DIAD lab is not available, other alternatives can be found on the ITCS Sites Classroom Reservation page.
