networking & mentoring LILA is committed to helping our members forward their professional goals by networking with other professionals in the information sciences. Our professionally employed library staff and student members already interact a great deal informally. However, we are looking to expand this interaction with a more formalized mentoring system. We would like to include professionals from other SI specializations, including Archives, Information Technology, and Information Economics, as well. In addition to professional networking, we encourage LILA members to network with other LGBT leaders on campus. We accomplish this by actively sponsoring events with other LGBT organizations at U-M. The premier event is the annual Fall LGBT Welcome Picnic in early September.
